Announcing Books #3 and #4…

Figure 1. “I am smiling because I am so happy that you are so excellent. Also because HarperCollins is in New York. And I am also in New York. Hmm…”

I’m pleased to announce that books #3 and #4, both as-yet-untitled YA novels, will be published by HarperTeen. The first one will come out in fall of 2015. Alexandra Cooper is my new editor for both books.

I’m very excited about this! I met Alex after Thanksgiving last year and we had a nice close-down-the-coffee-house chat. I know we’ll cook up something very juicy for readers. (By ‘juicy’ I mean ‘unflinching’ and ‘gritty’ and ‘edgy’ – ha). And I’m very happy she’s given me the ability to keep busy with writing the fake people for the extended future. This means I can keep dressing like a hobo and not have to inflict myself on the good people of the working world, at minimum.

Pablo is also grateful, as I’ll be able to keep him company at home as he journeys through this frightening life of remodeling and moving furniture.

Adrian is also happy, because this means he can see two other examples of how I exploit his life experience into stories to corrupt the youth.

Matilda, however, does not care. She’s largely unaware of me writing books. I don’t think she actually believes that I do this. Mainly she just thinks I sit around on Twitter all day looking at pictures of Norman Reedus (not entirely inaccurate). And she’s also currently pissed at me because I never put enough jelly on her peanut butter & jelly sandwiches when I pack her lunch for school.

That’s super news Carrie– congratulations. Sounds like you are going to be a busy, busy girl. Leave it to your kids to keep you grounded and not let your head get all big about a two book deal;)
